Ho Ho Hold up
By: Julia Jones | Married to Andrew Jones III, Coaching Staff for the Oklahoma City Thunder
As many of you know, NBA schedules have no regard for much of anything - bed times, birthdays, and so on. There are games on pretty much every major holiday spanning from October through to June (if you’re lucky enough to make a run in the playoffs). In turn, we accommodate our schedule accordingly. The past four seasons, we’ve been extremely fortunate - the 25th of December has always been at home in Oklahoma City. This is about as common as a unicorn. For 2018, the team plays in Houston. For 2018, Christmas will be on the 26th of December.
The thought of traveling to Texas - a short hour or so flight - does not seem bad, however, with two kids, an early tip-off, and a 24 hour turn around, I dodged repeated requests from my hubby to join him. Honestly, I just wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of the airport, germs, and meltdowns. That all changed when he texted me to tell me that he has arranged for us to venture down south. I replied the only way one should: a Cardi B gif sticking her tongue (eeeowww!). So we will get to spend Christmas together after all, which I am truly grateful for.
Nonetheless, since Ava is barely 3 and Heidi is just shy of 7 months, we can celebrate Christmas any day and they wouldn’t think twice about it. So we will still open presents Wednesday morning at home. Ahhh, the beauty of having children that aren’t in school yet. I’m certain that’ll change in the coming years and we will tackle this issue once it becomes one. Regardless, we are thankful that Drew works for a thoughtful and generous organization that allows us to make their little wishes come true! All that really matters is that we get to spend time with one another. Merry Christmas y’all!
